Connect with a Specialist

When you are ready to act, a hand-picked inheritance tax specialist can confirm your position and help you decide which strategies to pursue — and how to put them in place correctly.

Our standard

We don't run advisers through a form. We speak to them.

Every adviser on the CheckMyIHT panel has been personally assessed by our founder — a practising financial adviser — before being given access to any enquiry. A checklist alone cannot tell you whether someone is genuinely skilled at this. A conversation can.

Proven experience
A minimum of five years in active financial planning practice.
IHT as a specialism
Inheritance tax and estate planning must form a significant part of their current client work — not an occasional add-on.
Full strategy range
Able to advise across the core planning toolkit: trusts, gifting strategies, investment-based relief, and protection.
FCA authorised
Authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. You can verify any adviser's registration directly on the FCA register at register.fca.org.uk.
A note from our founder: "I built CheckMyIHT because I believe people deserve to understand their position clearly before they speak to anyone. When they are ready to take the next step, I want to be confident the adviser they meet is someone I would be comfortable recommending to my own clients. That is the standard I apply."
How it works
1
Submit your enquiry
Complete the short form below. Your postcode helps us match you with a specialist in your area. If you have used the calculator, your reference links your results to the enquiry.
2
We match you with a specialist
An IHT specialist will review your results and be in touch within 2 working days to arrange a time to speak.
If you used the calculator, your specialist receives your full report — estate breakdown, planning profile, and matched strategies — before they contact you. You will not need to repeat any information.
3
An initial conversation
Typically 20–30 minutes by phone or video. The specialist will review your position, answer your questions, and confirm which strategies are appropriate for your circumstances.
Many of the strategies identified by CheckMyIHT require careful structuring to be effective — trusts need to be drafted correctly, gift programmes need to be properly documented, and Business Relief needs to be confirmed as qualifying. The specialist ensures the planning is not just identified, but implemented in a way that holds.

No obligation. No cost for the initial conversation.
If you decide not to proceed at any point, there is no pressure and no follow-up.

Common Questions

Is the initial conversation free?
Yes. The first conversation is at no cost and no obligation. Its purpose is to understand your situation and establish whether professional advice could add value for you.
How are advisers selected for the panel?
Every adviser on the CheckMyIHT panel has been personally assessed by our founder before joining. We look for a minimum of five years' experience in financial planning, a demonstrable focus on inheritance tax and estate planning, the ability to advise across the full range of planning strategies. All advisers are FCA-authorised — you can verify any adviser's registration on the FCA register at register.fca.org.uk. We do not accept advisers who cannot cover the areas most relevant to our users.
Do I need to have used the CheckMyIHT calculator first?
No — the form is open to anyone. If you have completed the calculator, entering your reference lets the specialist know you have already estimated your liability and worked through your profile, which means the initial conversation can focus on your options rather than starting from scratch.
What happens after the initial conversation?
If the adviser believes that professional planning could benefit you, they will explain clearly what the next steps would involve, what a full review would include, and the likely costs. You are under no obligation to proceed at any stage.
Will my details be shared with anyone else?
No. Your contact details are shared only with the individual adviser assigned to your enquiry. We do not sell, rent, or share your data with any other parties, and we will not contact you for marketing purposes unless you separately request it.
Why do you ask for my postcode?
Your postcode allows us to match you with an adviser who covers your area. Many clients prefer to meet face to face, at least for the initial conversation, and local knowledge can also be relevant to property-related planning.
