CheckMyIHT is an educational tool. It provides illustrative estimates of potential inheritance tax liabilities based on the information you enter and the UK tax rules for the 2025/26 tax year. It is not financial advice, tax advice, or legal advice. You should not rely on the output of this tool as the basis for any financial decision without first consulting a qualified professional.
CheckMyIHT is not authorised or regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. The tool does not provide personal recommendations. The strategies presented are educational summaries of planning approaches that may or may not be appropriate for your circumstances. Their inclusion does not constitute a recommendation to pursue them.
The calculations produced by CheckMyIHT are illustrative estimates. They are based on simplified assumptions and the information you provide. Actual inheritance tax liabilities depend on circumstances that may not be fully captured by the tool, including but not limited to: the precise legal ownership of assets, the terms of any trusts, the timing and documentation of gifts, and the specific application of reliefs by HMRC.
Tax rules are subject to change. While the tool reflects the rules as understood at the time of publication, we cannot guarantee that the rules will not have changed by the time you use the tool.
The tool models the changes to Business Property Relief announced in the Autumn Budget 2024, including the £1 million cap (increasing to £2.5 million from April 2026) and the 50% relief rate on AIM-listed shares. These rules may be subject to further legislative change before or after implementation.
The tool includes the option to model the inclusion of pension funds in the taxable estate from April 2027, as announced in the Autumn Budget 2024. This change has not yet been legislated and may be subject to modification.
By using CheckMyIHT, you acknowledge that the results are estimates only and that you are responsible for seeking appropriate professional advice before taking any action based on the information provided. We accept no liability for any loss or damage arising from reliance on the output of this tool.
The financial figures you enter into the calculator are processed entirely in your browser and are not stored in any database. If you choose to receive your report by email, the report content is sent to our server for PDF conversion and then deleted. Your first name, email address, and a reference code are stored in a secure database and automatically deleted after 90 days. Full details of how we collect, use, and store personal data are set out in our privacy policy.
If you choose to request a conversation with a specialist through the "Connect with a Specialist" feature, you consent to your contact details being shared with a qualified specialist for the purpose of arranging an initial conversation. This does not create any obligation on your part. The specialist relationship, including any fees, is between you and the adviser directly.
